Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Assistant Coach, Field Hockey works with the head coach in helping to teach the skills necessary for a successful athletics program. The successful candidate will assist in organizing and conducting individual student-athlete workouts, team practices, opposing team scouts and game day preparations. The Assistant Coach, Field Hockey will assist in the evaluation and recruitment of qualified prospective student-athletes, preparation and management of the team operating budget and help to develop a team recruitment plan that will include travel, mailings and budget maintenance. It is imperative that the Assistant Coach, Field Hockey comply with all NCAA, NEWMAC and Wheaton College rules and regulations and help to ensure all student-athletes do the same. Travel locally, regionally and nationally to find prospective student-athletes and the ability to transport teams by College van as needed is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and 1-3 years of high school or collegiate coaching experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• The candidate must be able to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends from September through May.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Collegiate playing experience preferred.
